Using Blackboard

Get Started with Blackboard

University of South Wales uses Blackboard, one of the most widely used virtual learning environments, to support learning and teaching. Whether you are studying on campus, at home or somewhere else, Blackboard allows you to gain web access to your course materials anytime and anywhere.

To begin with, take a look at the Get Started with Blackboard leaflet, which gives you essential information on how to activate your IT account and log in to Unilife (your student portal).

The Blackboard tabs

When you log in to Blackboard you’ll notice a range of tabs at the top. Take a look at this video, which will give you a tour around this area of Blackboard.

Please note that you can make the video FULL SCREEN by clicking on the button in the top right of the video screen.

Hiding modules from view on the 'My Modules’ page

It is possible to adjust your module list so that certain modules are hidden from view. To do this select the Settings option which can be found to the right of the Module List heading.

From here you will see a list of all your modules.

To hide an individual module you need to deselect all the ticks to the right of the module. You can do this by clicking the check box to the left of the module name, once, to switch on all the ticks.

Then a second time to deselect all the ticks.

Repeat this for all the modules you wish to hide before clicking the Submit button. Remember that you can simply reverse the process to redisplay hidden modules.
